The ten studies in this series are based on my childhood home. They began as photos of the rooms of the house taken in 2003. The house was dark and chaotic during my parents’ final years and its future was uncertain. The photos became sketches, mixtures of reality and memory. The current studies, done from the sketches, contain even more of the scraps of my childhood and will now serve as the models for paintings on the same subject. With each incarnation, the memories become “stronger and stranger”, informing and transforming my life now.
